Immigration Attorney and PartnerKarla Lammers

She is one of the managing partner for Canero Lammers Immigration Law Group.

She is a naturalized U.S. citizen born and raised in Guatemala where she began her legal career practicing advanced corporate and tax law after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Francisco Marroquin University where she earned numerous academic awards. Ms. Lammers moved to the United States in 1999 and in 2001 earned her law degree from Nova Southeastern University.  In 2002, she earned her L.L.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami.

Since 2005, Ms. Lammers has focused her practice in immigration and nationality law which combined with her experience in corporate law has enabled her to provide international corporations and individual clients with a full-service law firm to meet their needs and where she has fought zealously to keep a myriad of individuals and families in the United States.  As a Guatemalan attorney, she continues to practice corporate law advising multinational corporations in the Central American region. She has also devoted her time and knowledge to serve the Guatemalan community and on occasion, she has been consulted by the Guatemalan authorities on cases of national significance.  Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Lammers has an extensive background in asylum and in litigation of immigration cases.

Certification and membership

Ms. Lammers is an AILA member and currently serves as the 1st Vice President of the AILA South Florida Chapter.  At the national level, Ms. Lammers has served as a member of the EOIR National Liaison Committee where she raised issues of crucial importance such as the independence of the immigration courts.  She is a passionate advocate for immigration reform and has gone several times to Washington, D.C. to promote meaningful changes to fix our broken Immigration system.  Ms. Lammers takes pride in doing pro-bono work and has been doing so since she began practicing law in Guatemala while working with the District Attorney’s Office.

Ms. Lammers is board certified in immigration and nationality law and has more than 15 years of experience in all aspects of immigration law.  She is a member of the Florida Bar, the D.C.  Bar and is also licensed to practice in United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and Guatemala.
